Damien Bouchard is a Microbiologist, specialized in infectious diseases in veterinary medicine. He also worked on the characterization of mammary microflora in cattle and of its probiotic potential to fight against S. aureus infections. Currently, he works at the Agence Française des médicaments vétérinaires on public health issues relating to the use and resistance to antimicrobials. His main area of expertise are antimicrobial resistance, pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics of antimicrobials, veterinary pharmaceutical legislation and risk analysis. Expert at national and European level, he is involved in various working groups (alternative treatments, optimization of dosage regimens, resistance in the environment). At the European level, he has been an expert since 2015 for the European Medicines Agency's antimicrobial Specialized Working Group (AWP/EMA) and appointed vice-chairman of this group in 2020. He is also a member of the Antimicrobial Advice Ad Hoc Expert Group (AMEG) created to provide guidance on the public health and animal health impact of the use of antibiotics by animals.
